The year 2011 has been a great year for pop culture. Here are emme magazine’s best and worst moments of the year:
Best
1. The Royal Wedding
emme loves anything that has to do with princes, princesses and royalty. So, watching the Royal Wedding was like Disney World and Christmas morning all wrapped into one TV special. It was nothing short of a fairy tale! Kate Middleton ignited dreams across the globe that girls really can grow up and land a prince charming.
2. Kim Kardashian’s Wedding
Although this wedding didn’t last, Kim’s wedding was the best thing since Will and Kate’s. It was glamorous, celeb-infested and over the top. Girls across America were enamored by the old Hollywood black and white theme of the wedding. If you can’t be a princess like Kate, having a wedding like Kim K is the next best thing.
3. Prince Harry Visits America
*swoon* Prince Harry took a tour of America during the Fall months for military training. He was located in several states out West including California and Nevada. Unfortunately, the dreamy prince never made it to the Midwest. Guess he’s going to have to fall in love with us the next time he visits America.
4. Justin Timberlake Attends the Marine Corps Ball
The only thing emme loves more than the Royal Family is Justin Timberlake. And the fact that he took a Marine to the Marine Corps Ball makes us love him more! Unlike some celebrities who are too wrapped up with their own hectic schedules, Timberlake took a night off to be the Marine’s guest. Not only does JT have great character, but amazing patriotism!
5. The Last Harry Potter Installment
Harry has been in our lives for over 10 years. Sadly, the series of movies had to end. We weren’t happy about this, but it was fun being a kid for one night to see the show.
Worst
1. Chris Christie Deciding Not To Run for President
emme was really hoping for the New Jersey Governor to run for president in 2012!
2. Rebecca Black
Poor Rebecca Black. All she wanted to do was get down on “Friday”. “Friday” was a YouTube sensation, receiving millions of hits. However, the backlash of the song was so severe that Black even received death threats! Luckily for the songstress, “Friday” was covered by Glee and Black made a guest appearance in Katy Perry’s music video. Guess who’s getting the last laugh?
3. Planking
We’re still not too sure what this is and why it became so popular.
4. Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice’s Wedding Hats
Really? We all know Brits wear fabulously outrageous hats, but these are a little over the top.
5. Charlie Sheen’s Meltdown
Charlie Sheen has had a tough year which resulted in a meltdown. Sheen appeared on TV talking gibberish, showing off his “goddesses” and coining the phrase “winning”. It’s too bad, because Sheen was hilarious on Two and a Half Men.
