If you were a teenage girl in the early 2000s, you probably were infatuated with boy bands. And if you were obsessed with the late 90s early 2000s pop mania, you probably gushed and swooned over the boy band Dream Street. Now, over ten years later, those giggling teenage girls have all grown up but the members of the band are still making music. Greg Raposo of Dream Street is also all grown up and has been working on his own music. Not only has his music style changed, but also his voice. emme was able to catch up with Raposo about making music and finally being able to rock out.
emme: Do you still keep in touch with any of the members of Dream Street?
Greg Raposo: Yes. I’m still in touch with all of them.
emme: Have you thought about doing any acting in movies or TV shows? What about Broadway?
GR: I’m open for all opportunities such as TV and movie [roles] and Broadway but writing and performing my own music is where my heart is.
emme: What has been the highlight of your career so far?
GR: The highlight of my career was being in a charity group called Kids4Kids when I was younger.
emme: Tell us a little bit about your band and who’s in it.
GR: As of right now my band consists of different players depending on who’s available. We’re not really a band anymore. I’m doing my own thing and I hire professionals to back me up.
emme: How do you begin writing a song?
GR: A song begins with inspiration. From there comes the music, melodies and lyrics.
emme: What was the first CD that you bought?
GR: The first CD I bought was Oasis the “Morning Glory” album.
emme: Will you be coming out with new material soon?
GR: Yes. I’m in the studio now recording new music that should be out by August 9th.
emme: What is your dream career and your goal as a musician?
GR: My dream career is to be my own boss and always have passion for what I’m doing. As a musician it is my goal to inspire people. I love hearing from people that my music has helped them in any way.
emme: Do you ever get stage fright? If you do, what do you do to calm down?
GR: No I don’t get stage fright but I do get extremely anxious and excited before shows. I usually do push ups before I go on stage to get my blood pumping.
