Black cats, ladders, and broken mirrors! It’s Friday the 13th! Are you superstitious?
Emme investigates how the Friday the 13th superstition came to be:
- In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness. This is due to the twelve months of the year, twelve hours of the clock, twelve gods of Olympus, and the twelve Apostles of Jesus. The number thirteen was considered irregular and incomplete.
- Friday has been considered an unlucky day since the 14th century’s The Canterbury Tales. Black Friday was the day the stock market crashed in the 1800s, and Jesus was crucified on a Friday.
