What advice would you give to young journalists?
Do as many things you can to put yourself out there and build up your portfolio. Reach out to agents. Post all of your [work on social media] and get it out there. Hopefully you’ll get seen! Or, get a reel together and send it to [networks]. If you want to write for an entertainment network put together a portfolio and go from there.
What journalists do you look up to?
Locally, Mark Giangreco. It’s hard not to admire Bob Costas.
How do you prepare for interviews?
The biggest thing is I ask something they haven’t heard [before]. I try to take a different angle or direction. I do a lot of research online and I have a good team. I try to not ask an obvious question or I say something to them that will make them laugh. You have to keep it fresh to celebs being asked the same questions over and over again.
