  1. Make sure to eat a lot of veggies, fruits and whole grains. Try to keep your red meat intake low.
  2. To reduce your risk for breast and colon cancers, make sure to be physically active. Get at least 30 minutes of activity most days of the week.
  3. Maintain a healthy weight by eating healthy foods and exercising. Being overweight could lead to uterus, colon, rectum or breast cancer.
  4. QUIT SMOKING! Smoking can lead to not only lung cancer, but also cervix and bladder cancers.
  5. Try to limit your exposure to second hand smoke.
  6. Try to limit your alcohol intake. Women shouldn’t have more than one drink a day.
  7. Cover Up! When out in the sun, make sure to protect your skin by wearing sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
  8. Be very informed when doing hormone placement therapy (HRT). HPT can heighten your risk of breast cancer.
  9. Ask your doctor when you should have your health tests and screenings, and make sure to attend.
  10. Ask your doctor for the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to lower your risk of cervical cancer.
