Fever, sore throat, loss of taste and smell, and body aches are all symptoms of COVID-19. However, experts say that the Omicron variant differs from the classic COVID-19 symptoms.
British doctor Dr. Amir Khan said there are several distinguishing symptoms that separate the Omicron variant from the common cold and other strains of COVID-19. The biggest one? Drenching night sweats.
“[The Omicron variant will give you] those kind of drenching night sweats where you might have to get up and change your clothes,” he told the Sun.
Another Omicron symptom is a scratchy throat– as opposed to a sore one– a dry cough, extreme fatigue, and mild muscle aches.
Dr. Angelique Coetzee, the chairwoman of the South African Medical Association, said Omicron sufferers will be more unlikely to have a loss of taste or smell, high fever, or a new cough, unlike the Delta variant.
